Description
I’m a photojournalist, and I set out to tell the story of Wisconsin’s landscapes, communities, and people by backpacking the 1200-mile-long Ice Age National Scenic Trail. This book chronicles my journey as I explored Wisconsin on foot with my camera.
On the trail, I followed my curiosity and photographed what intrigued me. Of course, there are scenic photos, but as a photojournalist, I also photographed the people and places that interested me. This book is a very eclectic collection of photographs, but any journey as epic as hiking across an entire state is bound to be composed of a wide range of unique, eclectic experiences.
A common expression in the hiking world is, “hike your own hike,” which means, experience the trail your own way. This was my hike. I hope you enjoy the photos and stories. I hope they inspire you to hike your own hike. Get out and explore Wisconsin and follow your curiosity. It doesn’t matter if your exploration is hiking, biking, or even driving a car. It doesn’t matter if it’s a thru-hike of the Ice Age Trail or a weekend road trip. The best things about Wisconsin aren’t always found in a travel brochure. Go discover the landscapes, communities, and people of Wisconsin first hand for yourself.
Any true adventure is a string of unplanned experiences following your curiosity.
